Found out about smcFanControl over at /. After installing the average (working) temperature of my Macbook Pro dropped from 61 degrees to about 47 degreed Celcius! Excellent! Another indispensible tool. For my wife’s Dell Inspiron I use i8kfan to achieve the same.
Typo & Server upgrade

Upgraded to Typo trunk and moved the blog to our new colo rack @ XS4ALL. So far so good. I briefly dabbled with Mephisto as a Typo replacement and although the data migration went smoothly I would have to spend way too much time on getting things working the way I want it. The current code also feels even more volatile than Typo (need a specific Rails edge release for things to work). The Orange theme is also a goner..
Update: As scribbish is now also available as a Mephisto theme and Typo has gone from bad to worse I’ve made the switch after all..
